Redmond native earns grant to study fossil birds in China

Ema Blumhagen, a member of the College of the Holy Cross class of 2010, was recently awarded a $3,750 grant from the Jurassic Foundation to study fossil birds in Beijing, China, during spring break.  The field work is linked to Aves 3D, a new online database of bones in the skeletons of living, recently extinct and fossil birds, which she worked on with Leon Claessens, assistant professor of biology.
