Jordan Cyr '10 Signs With ECHL's Stockton Thunder

WORCESTER, Mass. – Jordan Cyr, a 2010 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, has signed with the ECHL's Stockton Thunder. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Thunder are the affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers and the AHL's Springfield Falcons.

"Jordan was a player we were trying to sign toward the end of last season when college players became free agents, so we're excited to finally get him on board," said Thunder head coach Matt Thomas. "He was one of the first players I actively recruited this offseason and all signs point to him being a first year, impact forward, similar to Oren Eizenman and Chris D'Alvise when they were rookies. He has touch, ability to put the puck in the net and make other players better that are around him."

"I'm looking forward to bringing a very hard working approach and scoring touch to Stockton, night in and night out," said Cyr. "I pride myself on being an offensive player and reliable at both ends of the ice. It's very exciting to come to what seems to be an absolute, first class organization in the Thunder, that has tons of fan support and is a fun place to play."

Cyr, who was named MVP for the 2008-09 season as well as 2009-10, is only the third two-time MVP since 1995. He led the team with 14 goals and a career-best 16 assists for 30 points in his final season. This past season he was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week three times giving him this honor four times in his career. He was also the leading scorer with 19 goals and 13 assists for 32 points in 2008-09. His 19 goals in 2008-09 were third all-time on the Holy Cross Division I list. For his career, he had 34 goals and 29 assists for 63 points in 77 games, including one goal for RPI in 11 contests in 2006-07. The 2009-10 season was Cyr's second and last season with the Crusaders as he transferred from RPI and had to sit out the 2007-08 season athletically. Cyr was the first Holy Cross player from Manitoba.
