Organist Sean Redrow to Kick Off Holy Cross Chapel Artist Series

WORCESTER, Mass. – Sean Redrow, concert organist and Holy Cross alumnus, will perform Sunday, Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. in St. Joseph Memorial Chapel at the College of the Holy Cross.  The concert is the first of the Holy Cross Chapel Artists’ Series for the 2010-11 academic year.  The performance, which is handicap accessible, is free and open to the public.

As part of the Holy Cross Chapel Artists’ Series, Redrow’s performance will feature a variety of notable pieces, including works from Johann Sebastian Bach, Louis Marchand, and Nicolas de Grigny.

Redrow graduated from Holy Cross in 1998, where he held the prestigious position of Liturgical Music and Organ Scholar.  He received his master of music degree from the Boston Conservatory in 2000, and in 2009, he received his doctor of musical arts degree in organ performance from Boston University, where he studied under organist James David Christie.  Redrow has performed throughout New England and New York City as a soloist and as a member of the Boston Symphony and the Boston Philharmonic.  With Christie, he assisted in performances of Bach’s Art of Fugue in New York, Boston, Worcester, and Antwerp, Belgium.  His doctoral dissertation, a performing edition with critical commentary of the Premier Livre d’Orgue of Nicolas de Grigny and the copies of the Livre by J.S. Bach and Johann Gottfried Walther, is being published by Wayne Leupold Editions.  Currently, Redrow holds the positions of choir director and organist at the First Baptist Church in Newton, and director of music and organist for the Church of St. John the Evangelist in Worcester.
