Holy Cross Names Next President

Associated Press | Boston Globe | Telegram & Gazette

The Associated Press, Boston Globe and Telegram & Gazette all announced the news that Rev. Philip L. Boroughs, S.J., was elected as the 32nd president of the College of the Holy Cross.

"I feel honored and humbled to be selected as the new president of this wonderful institution," Fr. Boroughs told the Boston Globe in a telephone interview. "Reverend McFarland has enhanced the campus in academic programs and has given it broader recognition in the country. I hope to continue those trends and to beautify and expand the campus."

Fr. Boroughs, currently vice president for mission and ministry at Georgetown University, will assume office at Holy Cross in January 2012.  He succeeds Rev. Michael C. McFarland, S.J., who has been president since July 2000.
