Kids Get in Free to Holy Cross Football Games at Fitton Field

The College of the Holy Cross has announced a special invitation to Crusader football fans and Worcester area families.

This season, children aged 14 and under accompanied by an adult who has purchased a ticket will be admitted free to all Holy Cross home football games.

The program will kick off with the first afternoon home game on Saturday, Sept. 10, when Holy Cross meets Colgate at 1 p.m.  Four additional home footballs games are scheduled this season:

  • Saturday, Sept. 17 vs. Harvard (1 p.m.)
  • Saturday, Oct. 15 vs. Dartmouth (1 p.m.)
  • Saturday, Oct. 29 vs. Georgetown (1 p.m.)
  • Saturday, Nov. 12 vs. Lafayette (12:30 p.m.)

Releasing the details of the special program, Holy Cross Athletic Director Richard Regan said it was inspired by the strong relationships the College has developed in the community, and the connection Rev. Michael C. McFarland, S.J., College president, has to the football team and to Worcester youth.   As announced previously, Fr. McFarland will be stepping down as president at the end of this year.

“We wanted to do something special to honor Father McFarland since this will be his last season cheering on our student-athletes,” Regan said.  “We thought this would be especially fitting since Father McFarland has not only been such a great supporter of our football team, but also of all youth in greater Worcester.  During his 11 years as president, he has had an enormous influence on kids, from the founding of the Nativity School to numerous partnerships with schools and recreational programs in the city.”
