Belgium's Leading Organist to Perform at Holy Cross



Organist Jean Ferrard will perform on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. in St. Joseph Memorial Chapel at the College of the Holy Cross. The concert, which is part of the 2011-12 Holy Cross Chapel Artists Series, is free, open to the public, and handicap accessible.

The concert program includes the music of Sweelinck, Praetorius, Weckmann, Tunder, Buxtehude and Bach.

Ferrard is a concert organist, noted musicologist, and professor emeritus of organ at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, Belgium. He has prepared many scholarly editions of early organ music and has performed throughout the world. Ferrard has served on many prestigious international organ competition juries and he has recorded extensively.  He is very active in the preservation and restoration of old organs in Belgium.
