Working for Worcester Project to be Featured on 'NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams'

, the "Making a Difference" segment on "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" is scheduled to feature Holy Cross and the "Working for Worcester" city-wide project.

Launched in 2013 by six college students, including Holy Cross senior Jeffrey Reppucci, the project last month raised more than $100,000 and renovated 20 community recreation sites.

The NBC camera crew filmed the pre-event rally on the Hart Center Lawn at Holy Cross, then traveled to Worcester East Middle School, where volunteers renovated a girls locker room into a multi-purpose dance studio; Banis Park, where volunteers built a jungle gym, planted shrubs and put in picnic benches; and to Vernon Hill School, where volunteers installed playground equipment and a new basketball court. Correspondent Ron Mott interviewed Reppucci about the project.

Reppucci, a member of the Holy Cross varsity hockey team (earning Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team honors three consecutive years), was recently awarded the prestigious BNY Mellon Wealth Management Hockey Humanitarian Award and has been selected to deliver the Class of 2014 valedictory address. He is the co-founder of a non-profit organization Students Helping Children Across Borders, which has designed, funded and executed infrastructural development projects and community programming in many different countries.
