College Factual ranked the College of the Holy Cross No. 19 among all 1,393 colleges and universities in the country. The College is up four spots from No. 23 last year, the inaugural year of the College Factual rankings. Holy Cross also ranked No. 4 (out of 63) on the list of Best Massachusetts Colleges.
Just two years old, and a partnership with USA Today, College Factual uses 11 metrics obtained from the U.S. Department of Education and PayScale.com to establish its rankings. College Factual puts more emphasis on outputs such as retention and graduation rates, student loan default rates, and the starting and mid-career “salary boosts” provided by the school. The average salary boost measures the degree to which graduates of a particular school are performing relative to its peers. Holy Cross received a “best” score in this category.
