Fifth Annual Multifaith Prayer to Celebrate Faith Traditions at Holy Cross

President Boroughs to lead celebration

When students return to campus in January, the chaplain’s office will host its fifth annual Multifaith Community Prayer to celebrate the rich faith traditions represented at Holy Cross.  Students, faculty, and staff are invited to gather and participate on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. in Mary Chapel. Rev. Philip L. Boroughs, S.J., president of the College, will preside at the prayer.

Fr. Boroughs will be joined by other faith leaders in the Holy Cross and Worcester community. The program will include readings from the Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Unitarian Universalist and Christian traditions, as well as performances from various music groups including the Interdenominational Praise Team, Chapel Choir, College Chamber Singers. The program will also include a performance of Balinese dance and music by I Nyoman Winda, visiting fellow in Balinese music at Holy Cross.

“The Multifaith Community Prayer celebrates the diversity of faith traditions and beliefs held by students, faculty and staff at Holy Cross,” says Emily Rauer Davis, assistant chaplain. “It's an opportunity to come together to honor these important elements of our identity in a spirit of unity, respect, and gratitude.”

The celebration will be followed by a reception in the Loyola Ballroom featuring foods from around the world.
