'The NCAA Final Four Ranked by Academic Performance'

Time

According to a recent article on Time.com, if the NCAA men’s basketball tournament was determined by performance in the classroom, Holy Cross would be crowned the national champions.

The ranking, compiled by Washington think tank New America, begins with each school’s most recent basketball “graduation success rate,” which measures how many students leave their institution in good academic standing. Holy Cross men’s basketball has a 100 percent graduation success rate, the article states.

The New America ranking places Villanova University, University of Notre Dame, Butler University and Holy Cross in the tournament’s Final Four, with Holy Cross securing the academic victory.

“If the men’s hoops brackets mimicked academic performance … Holy Cross would be cutting down the nets,” Time reports. “The small college had the strongest academic ranking of all 68 teams in the men’s tournament.”
