Holy Cross went on to defeat Southern University in the NCAA First Four, for its first NCAA Tournament victory since 1953. The Crusaders also set a school single-season record with their total of five postseason victories.

Bob Cousy Award

As the basketball season tips off, Holy Cross is also preparing for the 2017 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award presented by the College of the Holy Cross. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced in October the 20 watch list finalists for the 2017 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award. This is the third year the College has sponsored the award.

By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players, which is determined by top basketball personnel, will be narrowed to 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Cousy and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee. The winner of the 2017 Bob Cousy Award will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show in Los Angeles, CA on Friday, April 7, 2017.

Named after Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic and Holy Cross guard Bob Cousy ’50, the annual honor, now in its 14th, year recognizes the top point guards in Division I men’s college basketball.
