AREAS OF STUDY Philosophy major

WHERE HE’S STUDYING Mansfield College, University of Oxford in Oxford, England

DURATION Full academic year

WHY HE CHOSE NAME OF COUNTRY “As a young boy, I lived in England for two years, and a part of me has always wanted to return there in some capacity. I really wanted to study at Oxford for its long history of being a place in which great minds could learn and challenge themselves. The thought of studying in an old library that perhaps was often frequented by the influential leaders and prominent writers of the past and present is one that cannot help but excite me.”

WHAT HE’S MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO “I am really looking forward to the rigorous tutorial system. The individualized attention from world-renowned academic minds in this one-on-one setting will allow me the possibility to ask more questions and to really immerse myself in my study of philosophy. Also, I may try joining their lawn tennis team, or perhaps even club rowing. I look forward to exploring the many other extracurricular activities as well!”

WHY HE’S BLOGGING “While I have never written a blog before, I thought that this opportunity could be a very fun way of sharing my experiences at Oxford with my friends, family, and the entire Holy Cross community. Hopefully my entries will also encourage future students to try something out of their comfort zone and take their studies abroad for their junior year!”
