The College of the Holy Cross has once again been recognized as one of the top colleges in the nation by Washington Monthly in the magazine’s “2020 College Guide and Rankings.” The annual ranking reflects the College’s “contribution to the public good” in terms of supporting and promoting social mobility, student research and public service.

Holy Cross was ranked No. 11 on the magazine’s list of “Best Bang for the Buck Northeast Colleges,” which recognizes four-year institutions that “help nonwealthy students obtain marketable degrees at affordable prices.”

Additionally, the College was also ranked No. 18 for liberal arts colleges, from a total list of 218 liberal arts institutions across the country.

Washington Monthly prides itself on taking a different approach to rankings, by ranking colleges on how well they serve the country as a whole—through recruiting and graduating nonwealthy students, encouraging student activism, and producing research and technologies that create high-paying jobs and address threats like climate change.
