Holy Cross Receives $200,000 Grant From James H. Napier Foundation

WORCESTER, Mass. – The College of the Holy Cross has been awarded a grant in the amount of $200,000 from the James H. Napier Foundation, of which alumnus John Benison '50 is a current board member. The money, which will be used to establish a scholarship endowment, will be given in installments over a five-year period.

To be known as the James. H. Napier Foundation Scholarship, the endowed fund will provide loan forgiveness annually to two students in their senior year at the College. Napier Scholarship recipients will include students who have accumulated the greatest amount of loans and whose families have the least financial capacity. Recipients will be selected by the financial aid office.

The Napier Foundation grant was sought as part of the College's "Lift High the Cross Campaign," which aims to significantly increase the amount of financial aid available to students. The $200,000 gift was the largest the Napier Foundation has ever awarded.
