A Kangaroo on Campus - Holy Cross Presents "Hogwarts III"

WORCESTER, Mass. – On Friday, Dec. 5, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Hogan Campus Center Ballroom, the College of the Holy Cross will present "Hogwarts at Holy Cross III: Caring for Earth's Magical Creatures" for children (through 6th grade) and their families. Children of faculty, staff, and the College Hill and South Worcester communities are welcome. The event is free.

The science exhibition will begin with a presentation of "Charms, Transfiguration, Potions and Astronomy" by Holy Cross students, and will be fashioned after the classes offered at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter book series.

At 7 p.m., Earth Limited will give a live animal demonstration featuring a kangaroo, birds, snakes, lizards, and more. The program will educate children about the earth's natural resources and threatened habitats.

Earth Limited is a nonprofit organization based at Southwick's Zoo in Mendon, Mass. Their ZooMobile outreach program is "dedicated to educating school children and the general public about animal ecology, tropical habitats, endangered species, the earth's natural resources, and the impact on the environment by the growth and expansion of the human population."

An ice cream social will follow the show at 8 p.m. This event, cosponsored by the Holy Cross Science Ambassadors, the Biology Society, Student Affairs, and Student Ambassadors Developing External Relations (S.A.D.E.R.), drew a crowd of almost 200 last semester.
