Three Scholars Selected to Deliver Speeches at Senior Convocation

WORCESTER, Mass. – Three students - all members of the Class of 2005 at the College of the Holy Cross - have been selected as Senior Convocation Scholars after submitting speeches in a competition open to the entire class. They will deliver their talks as part of the program at Senior Convocation on Jan. 24 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in St. Joseph Chapel. The three students are Emily Cura of Winchester, Mass., Brendan Kearney of Haddonfield, N.J. and Joanna Wusinich of Downingtown, Pa.

Seniors were asked to write speeches reflecting on the academic, spiritual, service, athletic and leadership experiences they have had over the past three and a half years, and describing how those experiences will play a role in their life after graduation.

A committee of faculty, administrators and students selected the winning speeches.

Senior Convocation is an opportunity for seniors at the College to come together as a class for the last time before Commencement, to reflect on the past few years, think about the future and how to better themselves. In addition to the speeches, the program includes musical performances by students and a talk by Rev. Michael C. McFarland, S.J., president of the College.
