Holy Cross to Hold Lecture Recital on Sacred Music of Josquin des Prez

WORCESTER, Mass. – A lecture recital on The Sacred Music of Josquin des Prez will be on Nov. 16 at 4:30 p.m. in Rehm Library at the College of the Holy Cross. The event is free and open to the public.

Jessica Waldoff, associate professor and chair of the music department, will give a short lecture on the music of Franco-Flemish composer, Josquin des Prez. The Holy Cross Chamber singers, directed by Pamela Getnick, choral director, will provide musical examples as part of the lecture, and the program will conclude with a short performance of works of Josquin. Pieces to be performed include the famous Ave Maria as well as the Gloria movements from two of Josquin’s Masses: The Missa Mater Patris, and the Missa L’Homme Arme Sexti Toni.

The event is sponsored by the Center for Religion, Ethics and Culture and the department of music.
