Kimball Dining Hall Going Trayless

Kimball Main Dining Hall will join hundreds of other college dining halls across the country that have cut trays from dining rooms. The move will take effect March 9.

Holy Cross Dining Services expects that going “trayless” will mean 25 to 50 percent less food will be wasted. Up to a half gallon of water will be saved per tray not washed, saving 900 gallons of water a day. A reduction in use of cleaning chemicals is also expected.

Meal service in the dining hall has always been an “All You Care To Eat” self-serve option. With trayless dining, students will still be welcome to go back for more helpings.
