Holy Cross Director of Auxiliary Services Earns High Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. – Art Korandanis, director of auxiliary services at the College of the Holy Cross, received the Theodore W. Minah Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS).

Korandanis, a member of NACUFS since 1981, received the award for his support of NACUFS and for his numerous contributions to the foodservice industry over the past 31 years. Korandanis’ contributions include work at regional and national conferences, mentoring foodservice professionals (many who have become foodservice directors themselves) and serving as chair of the benchmarking committee for several years.

Explaining the benchmarking work, Korandanis said:  “Working with the committee, we developed what has come to be recognized as the most complete, accurate and up-to-date set of financial and operating performance data for college and university food service departments.”

Korandanis came to Holy Cross in 1984, as director of dining services. From 1990 – 92 he was director of dining and business systems at Tufts University. He returned to Holy Cross in 1992 at director of auxiliary services, where he oversees dining service, the College’s bookstore, post office, the Hogan Campus Center, conference services operations, trademarks, licensing, and vending.

At NACUFS, he has served as regional president and on the national board as director at-large; and has received the Regional President's Award (for outstanding service on regional level) and the Richard Lichtenfelt Award (for service on a national level). He is the chair of the 2012 NACUFS conference, which will be held in Boston.

The National Association of College and University Food Services is the trade association for collegiate foodservice operators at nearly 600 institutions of higher education in North America.
