22 Holy Cross Graduates Serve As Jesuit Volunteers

Alums fighting social injustice across the nation, world

Twenty-two Holy Cross graduates are currently serving in locations around the world as Jesuit volunteers. With 16 former Holy Cross students participating in Jesuit Volunteer Corps, the school is the third most-represented college nationwide. An additional six graduates are serving in Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest, which operates independently.

Built on the four core values of social and ecological justice, simple living, community, and spirituality, the JVC and JVC Northwest programs give young men and women the chance to work full time for justice and peace. Participants serve for one or two years, during which time they live among the poor and marginalized and strive to examine and combat social injustice.

Jesuit Volunteers work in hundreds of schools, health clinics, legal clinics, parishes, and non-profit organizations, while those in the Northwest also teach in schools on Native American reservations.

There are currently 340 Jesuit Volunteers living in 49 communities in the United States and six other countries around the world, as well as 141 JVC Northwest participants serving in 20 locales throughout Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.
