Holy Cross Theatre Program a Hidden Gem in New England, According to OnStage

The College of the Holy Cross theatre department was recently highlighted as one the “10 Most Underrated Theater Colleges: New England,” in a recent On Stage blog post.  The list was based off the following criteria: curriculum, facilities, productions, faculty, alumni, and cost.

The blog highlights the College's theater facilities and its dedicated faculty. “This tight knit program has some fantastic facilities to offer students as well as a well versed curriculum taught by faculty with terminal degrees from some of the best programs in the country.”

In addition, On Stage features a variety of performances that occur every year and some of College’s distinct alumni.

“When it comes to performances they produce two faculty main stage shows a year. They also hold a student directed one act festival. Students also are able to participate in Alternative College Theater, a student directed organization that produces two shows a year. And when I say they produce two shows a year, they're not messing around either,” according to On Stage. “Alumni include Dick Cusack, Ann Dowd and Bartlett Sher.”

"The recognition of the Holy Cross theatre community in On Stage is a wonderful tribute to our students who bring such passion and commitment to their work,” says Edward Isser, professor and chair of the theatre department.

Isser adds, “As we enter an exciting phase of development associated with the new performing arts center, such accolades from afar affirm the faith of Neil Prior, the board of trustees and the administration of the College in our efforts.  We are humbled and inspired."
