Blog: Holy Cross is 'Everything I Hoped a College Could Offer,' Says Senier '19

NAME Brian P. Senier ’19

HOMETOWN Melrose, Mass.

STUDIES HE’S CONSIDERING English and political science double major

WHY HE CHOSE HOLY CROSS “As a prospective student coming from a small, urban, all-boys, Catholic high school just north of Boston, I knew that I wanted a similar collegiate experience. Aside from its sterling reputation, Holy Cross won my heart by providing everything I long hoped a college could offer: Catholic, Jesuit, liberal arts, New England, first-class academics, top-tier administrators, peerless faculty, intimate classes, spirit, a stellar alumni network, and admirable, unassuming students.”

ACTIVITIES Student Government Association (secretary of the Class of 2019), Mock Trial, Holy Cross Mediation Association, St. Thomas More Pre-Law Society, College Republicans, Society of Saints Peter and Paul, Liturgical Ministry, Student Programs for Urban Development

WHAT HE’S MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO “Of course, as a Holy Cross student, I’m hard-pressed to limit my expectations and aspirations. After all, we Crusaders are blessed with so much to occupy our time — that is, when our daunting academic schedules permit a break! In case you don’t already know, Holy Cross students are notoriously driven. Truth be told, I’m living proof! Yet, we still remain lighthearted and compassionate, grounded in faith, community, and the College’s mission. Nevertheless, I’m perhaps most looking forward to learning more about the Society of Jesus, Ignatian spirituality, and St. Ignatius of Loyola’s enduring legacy.”

WHY HE’S BLOGGING “Well, as a young, discerning first-year student, I can’t say that I’m entirely sure about my values and interests — nor should I be, so I’m told. But, I do know that I love two things for sure: writing and Holy Cross! This blog, then, offers me a captive audience to not only practice my writing, but also to show you, my faithful readership, why I love Holy Cross, and why I think you will love her, too.”
