"Do Teens Really Need Nine Hours of Sleep?"

Slate

A poll released earlier this week by the National Sleep Foundation (NSF) finds that Americans aren't getting enough sleep because they're spending too much time on their cell phones, computers and other electronic devices before bed.  It makes sense then, that adolescents were found to be among the most sleep-deprived.

Slate investigated the findings further by calling upon Amy Wolfson, associate dean for faculty development and professor of psychology at the College of the Holy Cross.  An expert in teen sleep, Wolfson served on the NSF's Sleep in America 2011 Task Force and provided background for the story, which gave insight into how researchers know how much sleep we need.
