The Holy Cross men’s hockey team, which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary season this year, is holding its Alumni Weekend on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4-5. As part of the festivities the program will be honoring the 10th anniversary of the 2005-06 team which won the Atlantic Hockey championship and defeated Minnesota in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on March 24, 2006. The team will be honored before the Crusaders’ contest versus Mercyhurst on Saturday. The annual Alumni Game will be played on Saturday at p.m.

The 2005-06 Holy Cross men’s hockey team made history by defeating No. 1 seed Minnesota, 4-3 in overtime in the 2006 NCAA West Regional Semifinals earning a spot in the national quarterfinals and a program-best national ranking of No. 14. The Crusaders were the first No. 4 seed to ever defeat a No. 1 seed in NCAA action after the tournament expanded to 16 teams. That year, Tyler McGregor was the first ever Crusader to earn Division I All-American accolades.
