Blog: Midwest Native Tapia '21 Eager to Explore Worcester in Second Year

NAME Xochitl Tapia '21

HOMETOWN Kansas City, Missouri

AREAS OF STUDY English and Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies double major

WHY SHE CHOSE HOLY CROSS “When going through the search process, I was interested in a small liberal arts college away from home. A big factor that influenced whether or not I would have interest in a school was the presence of a Latin American Studies curriculum and strong multicultural organizations. Holy Cross seemed to offer just that and I was able to visit in November 2016 through the Perspectives program where I immediately fell in love with the campus' physical attributes, people, and most importantly the academics. Visiting again during Visions Weekend, held for accepted students in the spring, solidified my decision when making my big final choice.”

ACTIVITIES Eco-Action, HC Fossil Free, Latin American Student Organization (LASO), Pride, SGA Environmental, Students Organizing for Community and Advocacy (SOCA)

WHAT SHE’S MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO "My biggest goal for the year is to explore Worcester more. Worcester has a lot to offer and I think there are many places that often get overlooked by people during their time here."

WHY SHE’S BLOGGING "My hope is that this year I can provide more personal insight to my experience at Holy Cross through my blog that will help others understand the experience here more. Documenting my experience through my blog also helps others back home catch up on what I’m doing while away at school."
