In recognition of her impact on the Massachusetts Latino community, Katiuska Fernandez ‘15, a music major in the Health Professions Advising Program while at Holy Cross, was recently named one of El Mundo Boston’s “Latino 30 Under 30.” Following graduation Fernandez earned a Master’s of Science in Communications from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Then in 2016 through the Mentor Program, Fernandez connected with alum Brian Lockhart ‘96, and switched gears into the world of television. Katiuska first went to work as the only Latina producer at the NFL Network, and then on to Hulu this past summer.
When reflecting on her Cambridge upbringing and New England background, Fernandez said, “There’re so many people that, when they become young professionals, they forget their roots. I just love where I grew up.”
As she continues to excel at Hulu, she is determined to improve the industry’s openness: “As a Latina, I would like to see more people in those roles. We need more of us. There’s just not enough women in important conversations.”
