With Super Bowl LII right around the corner, media across the country from The New York Times to Forbes and Minneapolis Star Tribune looking for expert opinion on the economic impact of the Super Bowl are turning to Holy Cross professor of economics Victor Matheson.

Most recently, he told The New York Times that the economic impact of the Super Bowl is always far less than host cities would have their constituents believe.

“Not nothing, and not what you would sneeze at,” Matheson told the Times, “but somewhere between a quarter and a tenth of what is being claimed.”

Holy Cross faculty members are thought leaders, sought-after consultants and experts for the media who challenge their students to learn and explore beyond classroom walls.
