CNN | Washington Post | Boston Globe | Newsweek | Fortune | Salon | Mother Jones

With the world keeping tabs on U.S.-Russia relations in anticipation of the second bilateral meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, media across the country are turning to Cynthia Hooper, associate professor of history and director of Russian and Eastern European Studies at the College of the Holy Cross.

As a historian of Russia specializing in Kremlin media strategy and a renowned expert on U.S.-Russian affairs, Hooper has published opinion pieces in the Washington Post, Newsweek, Salon, Fortune and The Conversation. She has also provided expert commentary to CNN, Mother Jones and Boston Globe, among others.

Most recently, Hooper was called upon by CNN for her insight, days before the first Trump-Putin summit on July 14. She told CNN's Jim Sciutto that it was "extraordinarily powerful" that President Trump echoed the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in denying Russia's involvement in the 2016 presidential elections, in effect endorsing their propaganda.
