Summer Plans: Intern, LA Sparks
Hometown: Sherman Oaks, CA
Major: Political Science
Minor: Business, Ethics, and Society
I am working in the Corporate Partnerships Department at the Los Angeles Sparks, three-time WNBA champions. As a Corporate Partnerships Intern, my primary responsibility is to identify companies that the Sparks could potentially partner with by conducting research and using this information to build a prospect profile. I also assist with customer service aspects of sponsor events and collaborate with other departments within the organization to ensure the successful execution of these events.
I am looking forward to learning more about the behind-the-scenes operations of a professional sports team and cultivating relationships with people in the industry. I have learned that collaboration and teamwork are extremely important in the workplace and to never be afraid to get creative and share ideas.
I have developed strong research and writing skills through various classes that I have taken at the College, especially those in the political science department. Holy Cross’ emphasis on class participation has taught me to speak up and share my ideas with those around me. The Center for Career Development has also helped prepare me for the interview process.
I have always had an interest in working in the sports industry but hadn’t considered pursuing a career in strategic partnerships. After my work this summer, I know that I am passionate about brainstorming ideas, conducting research, and building relationships with different individuals and brands. I now know the types of roles that I would like to pursue professionally.
